Jason serves as SVP, Drug Discovery and is responsible for chemistry, DMPK, and CMC activities in discovery research and early development. Before joining the Avilar team, Jason was Senior Director, Small Molecule Research at Alexion Pharmaceuticals and Executive Director, Medicinal Chemistry & Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics at Achillion Pharmaceuticals. Over the course of his 20-year pharmaceutical career, Jason has made notable contributions in the areas of immunology and infectious disease, where he and his teams have advanced eight investigational new drugs into human clinical trials, including danicopan and odalasvir. He is a co-inventor on over 55 issued U.S. patents and is a co-author on 29 peer-reviewed publications. Jason earned his doctoral degree in chemistry from the University of Alberta and trained at Harvard University as an NSERC of Canada Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
