Margaret is our Senior Director of Drug Discovery, bringing over 15 years of drug discovery experience to Avilar after having served as Director of Chemistry at Entact Bio and Rheos Medicines and as Associate Director of Chemistry at Mitobridge. Earlier in her career, she held roles of increasing responsibility at Astellas Research Institute. She has played an active role in early-stage portfolio management, validating and prioritizing new targets as well as leading discovery programs from concept to IND-enabling studies. Margaret earned her PhD at the University of Wisconsin in organic chemistry under the tutelage of Dr. Hans Reich and completed a post-doctoral fellowship studying synthetic methodology in the laboratory of Dr. Karl Scheidt at Northwestern University.
